HOWAVL was contracted to provide the design and commissioning of stage lighting systems for for Calvary Assembly as part of an all new construction design/build project in New York. Thew new sanctuary was designed for growth and built for an intimate worship experience celebrating the love of Jesus not just through physical worship, but to provide a community space. Our lighting vision was to provide proper lighting for broadcast, the ability to add color backdrops, and use of color change lighting without overwhelming the senses. Through our design process we determined a total of (20) Chauvet EW260 cool white ellipsoidals were used to light the front of the stage from four different positions. We chose the cool white version to provide a more accurate color coordination for broadcast purposes. An additional lighting position was installed at the back of the stage with (15) COLOR ONE 100X from Chroma-Q to provide stunning color detail from a large height that doesn't easily wash out in the key lighting on the stage.
The lighting positions were designed to be rigged above the trim height of the house lighting fixtures, "blinding" the eyes to not easily see the fixtures and lighting bars even though they are in plain sight. Routed through a pair of LUMA SPLIT processors, each lighting position receives (2) 5-pin DMX homerun feeds to provide direct connectivity for what is installed now and a new connection for future choices in lighting fixtures. We provided a custom Windows PC with dual 24-inch touch displays operating the VISTA 3 lighting package for ease of use, but unparalleled creativity and flexibility for the staff and volunteers alike. All power was controlled via a pair of LYNTEC PDS-10 power sequencers.
